This week Intrepid leader Jangbu Sherpa made history summiting the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest! πŸ™ŒπŸ‡³πŸ‡΅ Born and raised in Solukhumbu, Jangbu was inspired to become a mountain guide after watching his elders and trekkers from around the world touch the sky atop Sagarmatha (Mount Everest in Nepali). At 18, he became a porter with Intrepid and then a trip leader a few years later. After over 20 years of leading hundreds of Intrepid travellers to Everest Base Camp, Jangbu decided it was about time he made his own ascent beyond base camp. And at 8 am on May 17th, Jangbu found himself in a place that only 6,000 people have ever been before: the summit of Mt Everest. Congratulations Jangbu! πŸ’›
